The EU4Energy project supported the organization of Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week 2025

From September 22 to 26, 2025. The Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week 2025 (SECW 2025) was held in Sarajevo, with the European Union as its Lead Partner. The EU4Energy project supported the organization of this important and large conference by organizing seven panels and three side-events with the following topics: “The challenge of climate change and the future of the electric power sector in BiH”; “Dynamics of development of the electricity market in the region”; “Innovative solutions for a new generation of energy plants and battery systems”; “Barriers and incentives in the development of electromobility”; “Hydrogen – decarbonization of industry”; “Preparation, construction and resilience of infrastructure for energy challenges with reference to blackout”; “Consultations with experts: Solutions for exporting CBAM goods to the EU”; “The role of oil companies in the establishment of mandatory oil reserves in Bosnia and Herzegovina, opportunities and challenges”; “The role of critical minerals in the energy transition and the impact on sustainable development”; “How to implement the principle of energy efficiency first”. The panel “The challenge of climate change and the future of the electric power sector in BiH” was organized by the Office of the Special Representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the technical support of the “EU4Energy” project.

The aim of the SECW 2025 conference was to support the transition to a sustainable energy system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region, raise awareness of the importance of sustainable energy and climate change, and connect participants from different sectors to exchange knowledge and innovative technologies. On behalf of the European Union the conference was opened with a welcoming speech given by Mr. Adebayo Babajide, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the lead partner of SECW 2025.
