The concept and measures for the further development of electromobility in Bosnia and Herzegovina
EU4Energy project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized the meeting on the topic “Concept and measures for the further development of electromobility in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which was held in Sarajevo on April 1, 2026.
The aim of this meeting was to review the current activities on the introduction of electromobility in BiH, to recognize barriers and progress in removing some barriers, and to send recommendations to competent institutions that are further steps towards the sustainable introduction of electromobility in BiH. All levels of government have a role in the process of introducing sustainable electromobility in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The cities, regions and local communities are particularly important in the implementation of electric mobility. They make regulations at the local level, organize public transport and manage parking lots and charging infrastructure.
With the adoption of the Law on Electricity and the Law on Renewable Energy Sources and Efficient Cogeneration in the Federation of BiH, RS and Brčko District, electromobility was recognized as a separate activity and the possibility of subsidizing its development was given, but the development of electromobility in BiH faces numerous challenges: regulatory, economic, energy and social. Therefore, more coordinated efforts are needed and this meeting, organized by EU4Energy project, should be just a start in a good direction.
